Moments before I went away for Christmas an exciting (and bulky!) parcel arrived on my doorstep from England.

The parcel winged its way to me from the mysterious J of the Have Fork Will Travel blog. And folks, the contents were amazing…

There was a tin of my favourite blend of tea (earl gray) as well as a lovely tea strainer (the like of which I’ve been coveting for some time).

There were beautiful metal stars to scatter across the table, an embroidered Christmas table runner, and felt decorations for napkin rings.

Despite the challenges of sending food past Australian Customs (and there are many), J managed to sneak in some Scottish shortbread, a Christmas tree shaped lollipop and chocolate mints.

J also sent me a delicious recipe for parmesan cookies. She would have baked they first, but wisely figured they’d be snaffled at the border by hungry diligent border security guards.

Photos of the goodies will follow as soon as my new computer arrives and I get a The few technical issues sorted.

So, lots of thanks to J for a wonderful, tasty Christmas surprise, and also thanks to the The Happy Sorceress Happy Sorceress blog for organising the event.

I am so delighted that my little parcel, found its way to you. I was convinced I wouldn’t get past your ever vigilent border guards even though I studied the Australian Department of Agriculture site more than is probably healthy.
I checked your site nearly everyday for possible arrival and how know a lot more about Vegetarian restaurants in Sydney and generally.
I saw the spamming attack on the 29th December and was very pleased to see you resolve it. I read about your devastating Mac disaster too and hope that the rest of 2007 proves to be a huge improvement on the beginning.
Extremely belated happy Christmas and much happy eating in 2007.
Best regards, J

I think you had a well-placed fear of the Customs people, but sticking to dry goods and tea worked like a charm! I’m so sorry that it took so long for me to post about it. I felt awful, but I kept thinking that I’d be able to fix the photo / internet problem so was holding off posting. The great news is that my new computer arrived today and there were no problems installing my camera’s photo software so hopefully will be able to upload the photos tomorrowish.

I hope that you had a fantastic Christmas and New Year, and enjoyed your parcel as much as I’ve enjoyed yours. I really like your blog, by the way (and also rate mashed potatoes and (soy) sausages amongst my favourite food.
